The holiday season is something you should be excited about. This is a time to celebrate. A time to bond with family and friends. Rather, most of us hate the thought of gaining weight. Truly, the holiday season means lots of drinks and food. It does not necessarily mean that it has to go to your waist and thigh though. You can actually celebrate the holidays without the extra pounds. Sounds too good to be true. A little planning, though, can go a long way in maintaining a lean and fit body. Keeping your goals attainable and a bit of self discipline will complete your strategy for a healthy and svelte body. Here are the important things you should bear in mind.
Commit to stay on your fitness regimen all throughout the holidays. Some people simply accept the fact that they’re going to blow their fitness plan during the holidays. They anticipate eating lots of food without exercising during the holidays. You are surely going to gain additional weight if you are guilty of this. Change your perspective during the holidays. Have a particular exercise schedule and make sure you will stick to it. By giving sufficient efforts from your part, you can definitely do it. You can set some attainable goals to motivate you if you are really up to it. Like working on your muscle tone. Being able to reach a particular goal will make you motivated and pursue the entire course.
Be consistent in your diet plan. Consume 4 to 6 small meals each day. The holidays can completely turn your eating schedule inside out. Make your eating habit as regular as possible. Throwing your eating schedule off course can affect your metabolism. You’re bound to overeat. To avoid feeling deprived, plan to have a cheat day. Keeping a strict diet for the holidays is a disaster waiting to happen. Allow yourself a day to eat whatever you want. You may be surprised to realize that some of your favorite foods do not hold as much fascination for you. Adjust your cheat days so that they fall on party days. You may need more than one cheat day per week during the holidays. If so, plan ahead. You can utilize other holiday diet tricks. You can also add another day for exercise to balance calorie supply and expenditure. If you’ve fallen off the wagon, just get right back. If you don’t, the damage may escalate to the point that you’re going to give up. Don’t allow this to happen.
The holiday table will be full of foods which are delightful. Select one which you really like best. There is no need for you to taste everything. Knowing how to say no when you’re already full is important. It is a skill that you should cultivate. Take a look of all the foods in the buffet table. In this way, you will be able to decide which one you are going to put on your plate. You can actually sum up your portions. While you are deciding on what to eat, you should drink some water. You will surely eat lesser if you have consumed two cups of water.
Having a realistic plan to combat holiday eating is important. This way you can bake your holiday cake and eat it, too. But you should always have it in moderation. Keeping your fitness and diet plan in place will ensure that you enjoy the holidays. This is minus the worry that you’re going to add to your bulk. Keeping a few holiday diet tricks up your sleeve can’t hurt either.
